Cardano developer introduces ODATANO to connect SAP systems with the blockchain
Cardano’s developer portal has published an interview with ODATANO founder Maximilian, outlining a tool designed for SAP enterprise environments. ODATANO packages the Cardano blockchain as a standard OData V4 API, allowing enterprise developers familiar with SAP’s development stack to integrate blockchain functions without working directly with lower-level Cardano mechanics. According to Maximilian, SAP developers typically need to understand the UTxO model, transaction building, CBOR serialization, fee calculation, collateral handling, and key management before linking business processes to Cardano. ODATANO moves those tasks into a service layer, so Cardano can be consumed inside SAP applications as a standard OData service. The project currently exposes 31 entities and supports data retrieval, transaction building, and signing. It can query blocks, addresses, UTxOs, assets, and protocol parameters, and it also supports building, signing, and submitting transactions. ODATANO can run either as an SAP CAP plugin or as a standalone deployment. Maximilian also highlighted reference applications built on top of the tool, including TRACE, QUANTIX, FINCA, and x402. The Cardano developer portal said ODATANO received funding through Cardano Catalyst Fund 14. The project is being developed by Maximilian alone, with 1,285 automated tests completed and statement coverage at 99%.
