Qisda-backed partners have completed a cross-sea medical delivery test route linking Donggang in Pingtung County with the health center on Xiaoliuqiu, cutting medicine pickup time for island residents from half a day to about 20 minutes. The project was presented by BenQ Health Life at Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1 under a rural drone delivery and smart pharmacy telecare initiative. The effort brings together Ding Ding Pharmacy, whose parent company is Norbel Baby Co. (6844), the Taiwan Drone Association, UniCo, and Carbon-Based Technology (7719). According to the project details, the team combined artificial intelligence, 5G communications, and drone logistics, completed more than 100 test flights, and logged 1,700 kilometers of cross-sea flight distance. Carbon-Based Technology said the vertical takeoff and landing drone used in the trials was originally developed for offshore fishery patrol and maritime surveillance. After adding an intelligent image recognition system, the aircraft can assess risks before takeoff and identify obstacles, vessels, and birds during flight. The research team said the project has completed field validation and passed Ministry of Health and Welfare GDP pharmaceutical distribution standards as well as Civil Aviation Administration project permit procedures. It is now moving toward fixed commercial routes and regular medical delivery services while discussing cooperation with several local health bureaus and medical institutions.
