Axios: Trump administration in talks with Venezuela interim government over oil field stakes
According to Axios, the Trump administration is in talks with Venezuela’s interim government to obtain ownership interests in part of the country’s oil fields, covering more than a dozen producing fields. In exchange, private companies, including U.S. firms, would take part in developing the fields to raise output and bring in more oil revenue for Venezuela. The talks are being led by U.S. Secretary of State Rubio and Venezuela’s acting president Delcy Rodríguez. The report outlines a proposed exchange centered on oil asset interests and field development, with both ownership and production increases forming the core of the discussions.
