ChainFeeds research roundup tracks the CLARITY Act, Asia prediction market rules, and opposition to EIP-8363

ChainFeeds’ Aug. 8 research roundup brings together five separate discussions shaping the digital-asset policy and infrastructure debate. One piece, citing a16z, argues that the proposed CLARITY Act is needed to draw a workable line between the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, replacing years of case-by-case enforcement with a clearer market structure for digital assets. Another, from Tiger Research, says Asia’s prediction market problem is less about demand and more about legal classification, with current gambling and financial-product regimes both failing to provide a usable framework. The roundup also highlights Joseph Chalom’s case against EIP-8363, which he says could weaken DeFi, erode ETH’s yield advantage, and raise the cost of onchain capital. A separate report from TechFlow examines the pull of AI on crypto’s technical talent, pointing to declining GitHub activity across major ecosystems and to cases where AI tools rapidly identified code vulnerabilities. The final piece from Odaily reviews Robinhood’s listing of CashCat and the growth of Robinhood Chain, including tokenized stock access in more than 120 countries and regions, new-address inflows, and activity linked to Uniswap’s Pools.trade launch.

BlackRock launches BRSRV stablecoin reserve fund, adds Solana alongside Ethereum and Tempo

BlackRock has rolled out a tokenized money market vehicle built for stablecoin reserves and expanded its on-chain fund infrastructure beyond Ethereum. On Monday, the asset manager launched the BlackRock Daily Reinvestment Stablecoin Reserve Vehicle, or BRSRV, while also issuing tokenized on-chain shares of its existing BlackRock Select Treasury-Based Liquidity Fund, known as BSTBL. According to the filing cited in the report, ownership records for the fund are maintained across Solana, Ethereum and Tempo, with approved wallets administered by transfer agent Securitize. The structure uses a permissioned system tied to verified identities, allowing restrictions on transfers and, in certain cases, the freezing, rescission or reissuance of tokenized shares. BlackRock said the fund invests only in cash, short-term U.S. Treasuries and overnight repurchase agreements backed by Treasuries, and does not invest in any crypto assets. The fund carries a $3 million minimum initial investment. BlackRock also said the structure is designed to meet the qualified reserve asset standard under the GENIUS Act, while warning that regulatory changes, blockchain outages or smart contract flaws could affect its use or operation.

BlackRock Expands Tokenized Money Market Funds to Solana and Ethereum

BlackRock has rolled out a new money market fund aimed at stablecoin reserves and added Solana to the blockchains supporting its tokenized investment products. On Monday, the asset manager launched the BlackRock Daily Reinvestment Stablecoin Reserve Vehicle, or BRSRV, alongside on-chain shares of its existing BlackRock Select Treasury-Based Liquidity Fund, BSTBL. According to a prospectus filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday, ownership is recorded on Solana, Ethereum, and Tempo, with investors holding shares through approved wallets managed by transfer agent Securitize. The fund invests only in cash, short-term U.S. Treasury securities, and overnight repurchase agreements backed by Treasuries, and BlackRock says it does not invest in cryptocurrencies or other digital assets. The structure is designed to qualify as an eligible reserve asset under the GENIUS Act, the U.S. law governing payment stablecoins, though the filing says future regulatory changes, blockchain outages, or smart contract flaws could affect how the product is used or how transactions are processed. The launch adds to BlackRock’s broader tokenization push, following the debut of BUIDL in March 2024, which now manages more than $2.6 billion in assets.

BlackRock launches two blockchain money market products aimed at stablecoin reserves

BlackRock is expanding its tokenization push with two new blockchain-based money market products launched on Aug. 3, according to company materials. The two vehicles serve different purposes. BSTBL is a tokenized share class of an existing BlackRock money market fund issued on Ethereum, with underlying exposure to cash, short-dated U.S. Treasuries, and Treasury repurchase agreements. BRSRV, by contrast, is a newly created daily reinvestment stablecoin reserve vehicle that supports multiple blockchains and is clearly designed for stablecoin issuers seeking reserve assets. The filing timeline is also notable. Both products were submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in May. ABMedia said their structure aligns with the GENIUS Act and could qualify as reserve assets for compliant stablecoin issuers. The launch comes as BlackRock’s existing tokenized money market fund, BUIDL, has grown to about $2.5 billion. The fund is being used more frequently in crypto markets as collateral for lending and as margin for leveraged trading. ABMedia added that yield-bearing on-chain cash products are starting to take over some use cases traditionally held by non-yielding stablecoins, a trend it said was also one reason Morgan Stanley turned bearish on Circle the same day.

BlackRock launches two tokenized money market products to expand blockchain cash management

BlackRock has unveiled two tokenized money market products as it broadens its blockchain-based cash management offering: the BlackRock Select Treasury Based Liquidity Fund (BSTBL) and the BlackRock Daily Reinvestment Stablecoin Reserve Vehicle (BRSRV). The firm said the products combine the liquidity and stability associated with traditional money market funds with blockchain infrastructure, giving institutional investors more flexible tools to move between traditional finance and digital asset markets. BSTBL will introduce Ethereum-based tokenized shares tied to an existing money market fund, with transfers allowed between approved wallets subject to regulatory requirements. BNY Mellon will serve as transfer agent and tokenization services provider for BSTBL. BRSRV is aimed at digitally native institutional investors, supports daily dividend reinvestment and multi-blockchain access, and is designed for digital asset use cases including stablecoin reserve management. Securitize will act as transfer agent and tokenization provider for that fund. Both products invest in cash, short-term U.S. Treasuries, and overnight repurchase agreements backed by U.S. Treasuries.
