US, UK Reaffirm Regulatory Cooperation, Discuss Stablecoins and Digital Assets at FRWG Meeting
The US and the UK used the 13th session of their Financial Regulatory Working Group (FRWG), which convened in London on July 8, to renew a shared commitment to closer financial supervision cooperation. According to a report from Cointelegraph, the agenda ranged across stablecoin regulation, the structure of digital asset markets, tokenization, and the UK's strategy for digitizing its wholesale financial markets. In a joint statement, the US delegation informed the British side about progress on implementing the GENIUS Act and about ongoing efforts connected to digital asset market structure. The same statement voiced support for “responsible” digital asset innovation and put emphasis on financial stability and international regulatory cooperation. On July 14, the Transatlantic Taskforce for the Future Markets (TTMF) followed up by issuing preliminary recommendations on stablecoins and a joint statement of its own. The taskforce's recommendations and the joint statement lay the groundwork for continued US-UK leadership in digital assets and capital markets.
