Volcengine rolls out Seedance 2.5 4K, opening access to 20 film studios and directors

Volcengine, ByteDance’s cloud and AI unit, has released Seedance 2.5 4K, extending the earlier Seedance 2.5 model from a maximum output of 1080P to 4K film and television production. The company said the updated model has received targeted training to improve micro-expressions, subtle body movements, and fine visual details. It also said the model performs better in reference-based generation and video editing by preserving the source material’s clarity, color, and small text more effectively. Initial access is limited. Volcengine said the first batch is being opened only to 20 film studios and directors worldwide. About 20 works have already joined the trial program, and the earliest project is scheduled to air on satellite television in November. Volcengine launches Seedance incentive program for AI short dramas, with awards up to 200,000 yuan per title

Volcengine, ByteDance’s cloud and AI services platform, has launched the Seedance Premium AI Drama Incentive Program, according to a report by ifeng.com Tech cited by ChainCatcher on Oct. 19. The program offers financial incentives for premium AI animated short dramas produced with Seedance and released on the Hongguo Short Drama app. The plan excludes live-action productions and is limited to AI-generated formats, including AI animated dramas and AI simulated live-action dramas. Submitted video content must be created entirely with Seedance, and Seedance 2.5 must account for more than 50% of usage. Projects generated through either APIs or tool platforms are eligible. To qualify, a title must rank in the monthly Top 50 AI dramas by Hongguo popularity score and pass review. Both companies and individuals may apply, provided the submitted information is true and complete. Monthly incentives are split into three tiers: 200,000 yuan for titles ranked No. 1 to No. 10, 100,000 yuan for No. 11 to No. 20, and 50,000 yuan for No. 21 to No. 50. Payouts will be made as 50% cash and 50% equivalent vouchers. The first application round closes on Jan. 31, 2027.
