Crypto Treasury Stocks: Bigger Holdings Do Not Automatically Mean More Value Per Share

A larger bitcoin or ether treasury does not automatically translate into more crypto backing each share, nor does it guarantee a positive stock return, according to The Defiant. In its market analysis, the publication argues that investors looking at crypto treasury stocks need to focus on valuation mechanics rather than headline treasury size alone. The report points to Strategy’s disclosures as a clear example of why the formula matters. Two factors sit at the center of that framework: mNAV and dilution. Together, they shape how much value common shareholders are actually getting from a company’s digital asset holdings. The piece suggests that simply comparing the size of corporate bitcoin or ether reserves can miss the more important question of how those assets are reflected on a per-share basis. For investors in listed companies built around digital asset accumulation, treasury growth by itself is not enough to determine whether the stock offers better exposure or stronger returns.

Bitcoin options volatility curve shows an election bump as traders watch the U.S. midterms

Bitcoin options markets are pricing in a short burst of volatility around the U.S. midterm elections, while traders appear less convinced that the event will trigger a longer period of market stress. According to CoinDesk, the term structure of implied volatility in bitcoin options shows a clear bump at the Nov. 4 expiry, where IV stands near 43.5%, compared with roughly 36% for contracts expiring later. That pattern suggests the market is assigning a premium to the period immediately after election day, when early vote counts and media projections could move prices. Ether options are showing a similar shape, with implied volatility expected to ease back to around 36% by late November. At the same time, open interest in bitcoin and ether futures was broadly steady over the past 24 hours at about $58 billion and $23.58 billion, respectively. The positioning points to traders using options to hedge existing exposure rather than adding fresh futures bets. Laevitas said demand for downside protection could fade quickly once the election event passes, which could flatten the current bump in the IV curve. Bitcoin and ether were trading above $78,000 and $2,290 after rebounding from lows seen following Friday’s attack on Binance, while U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs recorded about $643 million in net outflows on Friday, the largest one-day outflow since June.

Bitcoin, Ether and XRP Drop Triggers $1.5 Billion in Liquidations

A selloff across bitcoin, ether and XRP wiped out roughly $1.5 billion in leveraged crypto positions, according to CoinDesk. Long bets accounted for nearly 84% of the forced liquidations, showing that traders positioned for higher prices took the bulk of the damage during the move lower. Binance handled almost half of the total liquidation volume cited in the report. After the initial decline, the market began to rebound, a shift that started to catch short sellers on the wrong side as prices recovered. The move highlights how quickly positioning can unwind in crypto derivatives when major tokens swing sharply in either direction.

Du Jun says some family offices swapped BTC for IBIT and gold

Du Jun said in a post on X that some family offices he had earlier advised to allocate to Bitcoin and Ether have changed course after going through centralized exchange hacks and supply-chain security incidents involving cold wallets. According to him, a number of those family offices have converted their BTC holdings into IBIT, while another group has sold crypto assets and moved into traditional assets such as physical gold. Du Jun added that he does not know how to persuade these family offices at this point, and said there appears to be no solution for now. The remarks point to how security incidents tied to crypto infrastructure and custody can affect asset-allocation decisions among family offices that had previously entered the market through direct exposure to BTC and ETH.
