Kalshi’s 15-minute gold markets pass Ether weeks after launch

Kalshi’s newly launched 15-minute gold markets moved ahead of comparable Ether contracts in September, according to data cited in the report. Predict Charts estimated that gold logged 542 million contracts and roughly $5 million in fees during the month, versus 318 million contracts and $2.6 million for Ether. Bitcoin remained well ahead, generating an estimated $60.4 million in fees. The report says the gold products, launched in August, let traders bet on whether gold will rise or fall over 15-minute intervals. Their quick rise came as Kalshi’s broader commodities business expanded. The company said in September that commodities volume reached $400 million within seven months, more than four times what its crypto markets had generated at the same point. Separate analysis from InGame found that short-duration crypto, commodity and financial markets generated $20.4 million in fees in the seven days through Oct. 5, making up 80% of Kalshi’s non-sport fees over that stretch. The same analysis said these markets represented 13% of platform trading volume but 20% of fees, reflecting Kalshi’s odds-based fee structure.

SEC clears first 3x leveraged crypto ETFs tied to Bitcoin and Ether

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission approved a rule change on Oct. 2 allowing Volatility Shares to list six 3x leveraged exchange-traded funds on Cboe BZX, covering Bitcoin, Ether, gold, silver, crude oil, and natural gas. The decision lifts the leverage ceiling for U.S. crypto funds from 2x to 3x for the first time, putting crypto-linked products on the same footing as comparable commodity funds. The ETFs are designed to deliver three times the daily return of their reference assets, but they are not yet available for trading because Volatility Shares still needs the SEC to declare its S-1 registration statement effective. The approval order did not include a timetable. The report notes that the funds will hold regulated futures rather than spot Bitcoin or spot Ether, following the same route used by the first Bitcoin futures ETFs in 2021. It also highlights the main risks: daily rebalancing, volatility decay in choppy markets, and futures roll costs. Bloomberg senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas said leveraged ETFs are built for trading, not investing, while Blockstream CEO Adam Back warned that automatic releveraging can steadily erode capital during sideways price action.

Coinbase adds short-term crypto direction contracts to prediction market

Coinbase added short-term up-or-down contracts to its prediction market on Tuesday, expanding the range of crypto products available on the platform. The contracts cover Bitcoin, Ether and eight other tokens, and let users place directional bets on price moves over 15-minute and hourly time frames. The listings are handled by prediction market platform Kalshi. According to the report, Kalshi had already been running the same 15-minute markets on its own exchange before the Coinbase rollout. The update points to a broader push to offer very short-duration crypto price products through prediction-style market structures.

Moscow Exchange plans to launch crypto trading service on Dec. 1

Moscow Exchange plans to start offering cryptocurrency trading services from Dec. 1, according to Boris Blokhin, the exchange’s senior managing director. The venue is currently testing the service with professional market participants ahead of the planned launch. Under Russia’s new regulatory framework, non-qualified investors will be limited to buying a narrow group of major crypto assets, including Bitcoin, Ether and USDT. Those investors will also be subject to an annual investment cap. The planned rollout points to a regulated path for crypto access on the exchange, with participation rules split between professional and non-qualified investors under the new framework.

Cardano’s ADA jumps 10% as crypto majors stay stuck in familiar ranges

Cardano’s ADA stood out in an otherwise range-bound crypto market, rising 10% over the past 24 hours to trade above $0.27, its highest level since May, according to CoinDesk data. The move came while bitcoin added just 1% and ether gained 0.5%, with BTC still holding inside its recent $84,000 to $87,000 band. The immediate trigger behind ADA’s outperformance was not clear, but traders appeared to be focusing on two Cardano-specific developments. One is the network’s RealFi institutional-credit product, announced on Oct. 1, which lets users route stablecoins into institutional credit for yields of up to 9% annually. The other is Cardano’s coming Dijkstra scalability phase, whose initial Phase 1 rollout is scheduled between late December 2026 and early 2027. That update is set to introduce Linear Leios and nested transactions. Derivatives data showed bitcoin positioning stayed firm even as open interest slipped to $22.0 billion from $22.4 billion on Friday. Funding rates remained elevated, basis held steady, and options activity leaned heavily toward calls. Elsewhere in the market, SUI outperformed among major layer-1 tokens, ENA fell sharply ahead of a large token unlock, and MON dropped despite news tied to planned stablecoin issuance on its network.

QCP says Bitcoin needs to hold above $87,200 to confirm the next leg higher

QCP Capital said the macro backdrop has shifted sharply over the past three weeks, with markets moving away from expectations of a Federal Reserve rate hike in October and toward a view that rates will likely stay unchanged. The firm pointed to weaker U.S. labor data in September, including nonfarm payroll growth of just 29,000 versus an expected 84,000, a rise in the unemployment rate to 4.2%, and slower wage growth of 3.0% year over year, the lowest since May 2021. The three-month average for job creation fell to 50,700, about one-third of the level seen a year earlier, helping push the probability of an October hike down to 22%. In crypto markets, QCP said Bitcoin still needs to establish support above $87,200 before a fresh uptrend can be confirmed. Ether is trading around $2,725 within a $2,650 to $2,800 range, with the broader setup described as cautiously constructive. The firm said Wednesday’s release of the Federal Reserve meeting minutes will be the main catalyst this week, as traders look for signs on whether earlier hawkish dissent reflected the Fed’s actual stance. TOKEN2049 in Singapore and the October 14 CPI release are also on the market’s radar.
