German savings banks roll out crypto trading service with a €0.99 fee per order

German savings banks launched a crypto asset trading service on Monday, allowing the first participating institutional clients to buy and sell Bitcoin, Ether, XRP, Solana and Polygon directly through the existing official app. The service is supported by Dekabank, while crypto custody is handled jointly by Dekabank and the Stuttgart Stock Exchange. Each order carries a €0.99 fee, and users do not need to link a traditional securities account. Individual savings banks will decide their own launch timing. The rollout is expected to bring in 30 to 40 savings banks per month, with a target of covering most interested institutions in the first half of 2027. Joachim Schmalzl, a member of the DSGV management team, said the product is aimed at clients who want to trade and hold crypto assets on their own. He added that savings banks will not provide investment advice and do not plan broad active marketing in the initial phase. The group also warned that cryptocurrencies are highly speculative assets and that clients could face total losses.

Alana Levin says Q4 2026 crypto liquidity is likely to favor Bitcoin and revenue-generating protocols

Variant partner Alana Levin argues that the market’s main question has shifted after what she sees as a likely bottom in July 2026. In her view, investors are no longer focused on when crypto would bottom, but on where the next leg of the bull market could draw strength and which assets are best positioned to absorb fresh capital. She groups the likely winners into two buckets: assets that function as money or stores of value, with Bitcoin as the clearest anchor, and protocols that generate real revenue and cash flow. Levin says the second group will face tougher scrutiny from public-market style investors, especially around revenue quality, durability after the bull cycle cools, and margin structure. She also expects valuation premiums to diverge, with stronger support for projects tied to real-world assets, stablecoin growth, institutional distribution, and teams that survived the last bear market. By contrast, she describes a third category — on-chain projects that mirror traditional business models, especially AI-related token narratives — as largely narrative trades rather than long-term value holdings. Her main warning is that token holders often do not capture the economics created at the company level. Levin also argues that some fundamentally stronger crypto assets may now see drawdowns closer to the 10% to 30% range typical of mature financial markets, rather than the 90% collapses seen in earlier cycles.

Ki Young Ju says HYPE is the most bullish crypto asset by analyst sentiment

CryptoQuant founder and CEO Ki Young Ju said on Oct. 19 that Hyperliquid’s token HYPE currently ranks as the most bullish crypto asset when measured by analyst sentiment. According to his post, HYPE shows a bullish deviation of about 2.3 standard deviations, the highest among the major assets listed. He said the main bullish case centers on fee-driven buybacks supporting the token’s price action, while no dominant bearish consensus has emerged around it. Based on the same analyst sentiment framework, the tokens following HYPE on the bullish side are BNB, SOL, Bitcoin, ADA, XRP, Ether and UNI. Ki also outlined some of the reasoning attached to those views. For BNB, the bullish case points to broader adoption in real-world payments and tokenized assets. On the bearish side, Bitcoin and Ether were associated with inflation and correction signals, and ETF outflows together with inflows to trading platforms, respectively.

Charles Schwab rolls out external wallet transfers for eligible Bitcoin and Ether clients

Charles Schwab is gradually enabling external wallet transfers for eligible clients holding Bitcoin and Ether, expanding its crypto service beyond exposure inside investment accounts. The brokerage said qualified users can move the two assets into and out of external wallets as the feature is introduced in phases. Schwab also made clear that Bitcoin and Ether held through its service do not receive Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, or FDIC, protection, and that the crypto assets are not insured traditional bank deposits. The company added that the rollout will proceed step by step and said it has discussed broadening supported assets beyond BTC and ETH. The update points to a wider crypto offering at Schwab, while keeping the firm’s disclosure on insurance treatment explicit for clients using the service.

XRP Still Trails Its 2018 Peak as Supply Growth, Soft Fund Flows Weigh on Demand

XRP is still trading around $1.33, roughly 62.5% below its January 2018 high of $3.55, even as bitcoin, ether and several other major cryptocurrencies remain above their prior cycle peaks. CoinDesk’s report points to a mix of structural and market-driven reasons for the gap: XRP’s circulating supply has expanded 63% since 2017, spot and perpetual trading volumes have fallen, active addresses are lower, and investor inflows into XRP-linked funds remain modest compared with bitcoin and ether products. Analysts quoted in the report also said Ripple’s focus on cross-border payments, RLUSD and trade finance has left XRP with less exposure to capital-heavy narratives such as DeFi, AI and memecoins. The token also spent years under a cloud of regulatory uncertainty tied to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s case against Ripple, which began in 2020 and ended in August 2025 after both sides dropped their appeals. While XRP is not the only large-cap token still below early 2018 levels, analysts said its relative weakness versus bitcoin, combined with supply distribution trends and fund-holding changes, remains a key signal to watch.
