Leon Wankum Says Bitcoin Is Pulling Monetary Premium Out of Real Estate

Bitcoin Magazine has published a podcast episode featuring real estate operator and Digital Real Estate author Leon Wankum, who argues that Bitcoin is not only on track to overtake real estate, but to outgrow it. In the episode, hosted by Spencer Nichols, Wankum says global real estate is a $300 trillion to $500 trillion asset class and that 80% to 90% of its value comes from monetary premium rather than utility. He argues that this premium is now moving to Bitcoin, comparing the shift to the way information moved to the internet. The episode summary says Wankum laid out a $1,000 trillion base case for Bitcoin and a path to $1 million by the late 2030s. He also argued that, from a financial standpoint, it now makes more sense to rent and buy Bitcoin. The published chapter list covers topics including leverage and cash flow in real estate, Bitcoin’s 50% CAGR versus real estate’s 4% to 6%, Bitcoin’s four-year cycles and volatility as a collateral feature, and a framework built around selling, accumulating, refinancing, and dual collateral. Bitcoin Magazine also included a disclaimer stating that the views expressed are those of the participants and do not necessarily reflect the official position of BTC Inc., Bitcoin Magazine, or affiliated entities.

Justin Sun discusses Q-Day risk, TRON’s USDT moat and the childhood that shaped him

TRON founder Justin Sun used a wide-ranging podcast appearance on Oct. 14 to connect personal history with current crypto strategy, touching on everything from quantum threats and post-quantum cryptography to TRON’s stablecoin dominance and future tokenized stock plans. In the interview with Bonnie Blockchain, Sun said a childhood marked by boarding school, long stretches of isolation and his parents’ separation forced him to make life decisions unusually early. He framed that experience as the source of both his independence and his view that extreme loneliness can also bring a kind of freedom. On the business side, Sun said TRON now holds more than $94 billion in USDT, roughly half of total Tether circulation, and attributed that position to network effects and a user base he put at more than 400 million real users, with roughly 500,000 new users joining each day. He also said TRON plans to launch tokenized stocks in the fourth quarter, giving stablecoin users on the network access to products tied to QQQ, the S&P 500 and other U.S. market benchmarks without leaving the chain. Sun also renewed his warning that the Bitcoin industry is underestimating Q-Day, the point at which quantum capability could threaten existing cryptographic assumptions. He said his team is working on post-quantum cryptography based on NIST standards and hopes to test those efforts on a testnet next year. The conversation also covered his math prize, OpenAI’s participation, his past investment in World Liberty Financial, and his claim that many of his most publicized decisions were driven by experience rather than marketing.

Apple discloses acqui-hire-style deal with podcast startup Huxe

Apple said in a regulatory filing submitted to the European Commission that it has reached a deal with personalized audio startup Huxe to hire part of its team and license its technology. The filing describes the arrangement as a common acqui-hire-style transaction rather than a full acquisition. Under the terms disclosed, Apple will extend employment offers to certain Huxe AI employees and receive a non-exclusive license to Huxe’s intellectual property. Huxe was founded by developers who had worked on the AI-generated podcast feature in NotebookLM, later renamed Gemini Notebook. The startup announced on May 21 that it was shutting down its service. The filing also points to a broader trend: large companies are increasingly using these structures to bring in key AI talent and secure technical know-how without acquiring an entire startup, a format that may draw less antitrust scrutiny.

Justin Sun says he moved all assets into crypto after 2012 as a "system upgrade" rather than a profit trade

Justin Sun said in a podcast released on Oct. 9 that he shifted all of his assets into cryptocurrencies after 2012, framing the move as a response to where the era was headed rather than a simple bet on returns. Speaking on Shao Ailun’s podcast about how young people can seize opportunities in the AI era, Sun said the decision was not driven by making money, but by what he described as a kind of personal "system upgrade" — doing what he believed in and acting within his own understanding. He compared the choice to buying an iPhone as soon as it first came out, saying he bought Apple products because they represented the future, "not even for making money." Sun argued that older forms of assets such as houses and cars belong to a previous era and cannot be "translated for machines," while digital currencies and Bitcoin can be recognized by machines. Sun also said he was among the first to turn bullish on storage because AI development will inevitably require storage. He described that call as a judgment on trend, not one driven by personal interest. More broadly, he said making money is only a byproduct of doing the right thing, adding that society values something more highly over time when its role becomes more important.

34% of U.S. podcast listeners are new within a year, while Netflix tops Apple Podcasts in usage

A new study from Sounds Profitable, titled The Podcast Landscape 2026, shows that the U.S. podcast market is still adding a large number of new listeners rather than relying only on long-time users. Based on an August survey of 5,473 U.S. adults, 55% said they had listened to a podcast at least once in the past month. Among monthly listeners, 65% said the number of shows they regularly follow is three or fewer: 24% regularly follow three shows, 26% follow two, and 15% stick to just one. The report also found that 34% of podcast consumers started listening within the past year, up from 28% in 2025. That suggests new audience formation remains active, and that early-stage listener habits may matter more than broad but shallow reach. On distribution, YouTube led by a wide margin, with 63% of podcast consumers saying they had listened to or watched podcasts there over the past year. Spotify ranked second at 33%, while Apple Podcasts came in at 15%. Barrett Media highlighted another shift: Netflix reached 21% usage in its first year offering podcast content, ahead of Apple Podcasts. The data points to a broader change in how audiences define podcasts, with video platforms increasingly serving as major discovery and consumption channels.

CZ: This Year Has Been Tough for Crypto, but RWA and Stablecoins Exceeded Expectations

CZ appeared on the Meanders podcast on Aug. 30 and talked about resilience, adaptability, and what keeps him motivated in crypto. He said he generally doesn't set goals and just does his best, acknowledging that this year's poor market could hurt his company's performance, but he hasn't slacked or made major mistakes. He also shared his belief in simulation theory, comparing the world to a game where effort matters but outcomes are ultimately out of one's hands. On the industry, CZ said blockchain performance improvements are still too slow, while Bitcoin's slow upgrades make it stable—an advantage in its own right. He admitted he doubted RWA as recently as a year and a half ago, but it is now growing quickly. Similarly, five years ago he was unsure how long stablecoins could last and didn't fully understand them; now he sees that stablecoins have their own uses. These developments, he said, were things he hadn't expected.

CZ on a 2017 Do-Over: Avoid US Users, Launch Futures Earlier

On Aug. 30, CZ joined the Meanders podcast and discussed the pressures, adaptability and long-term drive involved in crypto work. When asked how he would rebuild a global crypto exchange if he could go back to 2017, CZ said his first rule would be to leave US users alone. A centralized platform serving US customers, he explained, falls under US regulation and needs a US license; the US may not enforce this in every case, but it has both the right and the power to do so. He also said he would launch contracts earlier, bring other financial products online sooner, and pursue fuller coverage across the product line. Engagement with regulators would also be more extensive. CZ noted that Binance is currently the exchange that communicates with regulators the most, but coverage remains insufficient. Doing this properly, he said, is expensive — not just in money but in hiring the right people and spending significant time managing compliance. The conversation also touched on how he copes with pressure, adapts, and stays motivated in the crypto industry.
