According to the report, many user complaints appear to cluster around an area slightly below the center on the right half of the inner display. Cailian Press said the model drew heavy negative feedback after launch, with some consumers reporting cracks on the inner screen after only a few days, or even a few hours, of use. To study the issue, iFixit built a 3D model of the hinge using scans, teardown footage, and Apple patent research. It outlined two possible explanations: a central support rod may fail to retract properly when the phone closes and put too much pressure on the display, or a curved guide rail that directs hinge movement may sit higher than nearby parts during folding and interfere with the screen if it does not move as intended. iFixit said it has not identified a final cause. The report also gave the iPhone Duo a repairability score of 5 out of 10 and said it may be the easiest foldable phone to repair.20
