Finmo wins top prize at inaugural AFA Awards with cross-border TreasuryOS pitch

Finmo Tech, a Singapore-based fintech company, took the top honor at the AFA Awards 2026 grand final held in Taipei on Sept. 1, winning the Grand Award for Cross-Border Fintech Unicorn Potential. The company’s main product is TreasuryOS, which it describes as a treasury operating system built to consolidate financial operations that multinational businesses often manage across separate banks, accounting tools and ERP systems. According to Finmo’s website and public information cited in the source report, the platform covers cross-border payments, multi-currency accounts, cash flow visibility, cash forecasting, FX hedging and working capital optimization, with a payment network spanning more than 180 countries. Finmo has also recently launched a conversational AI assistant called MO AI for CFOs and finance teams, designed to support real-time cash management, forecasting, compliance and reporting. Founded in 2021, Finmo obtained a Major Payment Institution license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore in 2023 and now holds related licenses in Singapore, Australia, the United States and New Zealand. The company has raised about $27 million to date, including an oversubscribed $18.5 million Series A completed in February 2025 and co-led by Quona Capital and PayPal Ventures, with Citi Ventures also participating.

NVIDIA’s revenue doubled, but investors zeroed in on margin pressure

NVIDIA reported FY2027 Q2 results that stood out even by its own recent standards: revenue reached $96.22 billion, up 106% year over year, while data center revenue climbed to $89.02 billion, up 117%. Adjusted EPS came in at $2.22, above the $2.09 consensus, and the company guided Q3 revenue to $108 billion, plus or minus 2%, ahead of the roughly $104 billion analysts had expected. Shares rose about 4% in after-hours trading to around $218. The report showed how concentrated NVIDIA’s business has become around AI infrastructure. Data center now accounts for about 93% of total revenue, with hyperscalers still the largest buyers. At the same time, management highlighted faster growth from AI cloud, industrial and enterprise customers. One of the most closely watched figures was supply commitments, which jumped from $119 billion at the end of Q1 to $279 billion at the end of Q2, largely tied to memory procurement for the Vera Rubin platform. Still, the main debate after the release was not revenue growth but gross margin. NVIDIA held Q2 gross margin at 75%, guided Q3 to 74%, and said Q4 could fall to 71% to 72%, citing memory costs that rose more than expected. That shift, at NVIDIA’s scale, can move quarterly gross profit by more than $10 billion from one modeling assumption to another, which is why margin has become the center of the market’s attention.

FormaTheoria logs nearly 1 million lines of Lean code in 7 months for finite simple group classification checks

FormaTheoria, an AI-assisted workflow proposed by researchers from Tsinghua University’s Qiuzhen College, the Yau Mathematical Sciences Center, the Institute for AI Industry Research, and the University of Warwick, is taking on one of modern mathematics’ largest proof efforts: the classification of finite simple groups, or CFSG. The project starts from original mathematical literature, reconstructs dependencies, translates statements into formal language, builds proofs, and then has them checked step by step by the Lean proof assistant. As of the project snapshot described in the paper for August 2026, the system had formalized four key theorems and produced more than 994,000 lines of interlinked Lean code across more than 850 files. It had also read 15 books and papers totaling 1,037 pages, with roughly two-thirds of that material discovered only after proof work had already begun. The paper says the effort remains far from a full formalization of CFSG, but describes the result as a major milestone. It also documents how the workflow surfaced definition mismatches, missing assumptions, divisibility errors, and indexing mistakes in source literature while building a large dependency-tracked proof network.

Bernstein lifts Nvidia target to $400, saying Rubin could drive its biggest product cycle yet

Nvidia’s latest quarterly report beat expectations on both revenue and earnings, but Bernstein’s upgrade rests less on the quarter that just ended than on what may come next. In a report published on Aug. 27, Bernstein raised its price target on Nvidia to $400 from $315 and kept its “Outperform” rating. The firm also lifted its fiscal 2028 revenue forecast to $690.3 billion from $539.6 billion and raised its non-GAAP EPS estimate for that year to $15.80 from $12.52. The key argument is that Blackwell demand is still expanding while Rubin has started to contribute meaningful revenue, creating overlap between two major platform cycles. Bernstein said that dynamic could make Rubin the largest product cycle in Nvidia’s history. The report also points to supply as the main constraint now, not demand, with Nvidia’s supply-related commitments rising to $279 billion by the second fiscal quarter. Even so, the path to Bernstein’s target still depends on Rubin ramping on schedule, supply bottlenecks easing, and memory cost pressure staying contained.

OpenAI launches ChatGPT for Teens with stricter safety controls and study tools

OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT for Teens, a version designed for users ages 13 to 17 or accounts the system identifies as minors. The product turns on safety defaults, adds Study Mode, limits sensitive conversations, and gives parents new controls over notifications and quiet hours. It also comes with learning tools and a partnership with CodeAI to teach teens how AI works and how to question it. The rollout comes after lawsuits, a Florida case against OpenAI and CEO Sam Altman, state attorney general scrutiny, California’s SB 243, and an FTC 6(b) inquiry into companion AI chatbots.

Queensland study links manifestation beliefs with crypto ownership, scam victimhood and bankruptcy

Researchers at the University of Queensland say stronger belief in “manifestation” is associated with a higher likelihood of owning cryptocurrency, reporting scam victimhood within the past five years, and having experienced bankruptcy, based on a study of 1,023 people. The paper introduced an 11-item Manifestation Scale and found that each one-unit increase in the score was associated with 1.33x higher odds of holding crypto, 1.28x higher odds of having given personal information or money to a scammer in the previous five years, and 1.42x higher odds of having been bankrupt. The probability of holding traditional stocks, however, did not change significantly. The authors also stressed that the effects were small. Serial correlations were 0.14 for crypto ownership, 0.13 for bankruptcy, and 0.09 for scam victimhood, levels the paper described as weak by social science standards. The study also found that higher manifestation scores were tied to intuitive decision-making and stronger self-perceived success, but not to higher income or education. A third study in the paper showed that people with stronger manifestation beliefs gave shorter timelines for reaching unlikely goals such as earning $300,000 a year or gaining 100,000 social media followers.

HTX weekly asset review: BSC meme tokens led gains as TUT jumped 733%

HTX platform data for Aug. 2 to Aug. 9 showed that the broader crypto market did not rise across the board, with Bitcoin dominance staying above 56% and capital still concentrated in large-cap assets. Even so, several mid- and small-cap tokens posted independent rallies. The most concentrated move came from the BSC meme sector, where TUT surged 733% for the week, while MUBARAK and TST also advanced together. In the AI segment, SKYAI rose 291% after ending a three-month consolidation. DeFi names remained active as well: BICO climbed 240%, BMT gained 110%, and BTW rose 153%, marking its third straight week on the gainers list. HTX said many of the week’s top performers had spent extended periods in weakness before being repriced by the market.
