GOAL reported on Sunday that Al-Ittihad are monitoring Leipzig defender Abdoul Kone with a view to a January move. The centre-back is 21 years old.
Transfer claim
GOAL, attributing the claim to Foot Mercato, reported that Al-Ittihad are keeping tabs on Kone with a view to a January swoop. Foot Mercato said the Saudi side have set their sights on the Leipzig player for the upcoming winter window.
Kone's club career
Leipzig signed Kone from Stade Reims last January in a deal worth 21 million euros and then loaned him straight back to the French club for the rest of the season. At Reims, he made 28 appearances in the French second division.
Minutes this season
He has played just one match for Leipzig this season, a three-minute cameo against Elversberg on 24 October in a 4-0 league win.
International status
Kone has represented France at under-20 level, winning four caps, though he also holds Ivorian nationality.
