Cesc Fabregas said before Como's away match against Torino that some players understand the need for rotation less than others. He spoke about keeping the squad fresh and motivated during a busy run of fixtures.
Rotation and fixture load
Fabregas said: "I don’t know, but in our opinion, it’s about making a lot of changes and making everyone feel important. For them, the big challenge is understanding that sometimes you will play and sometimes you won’t, but that you always have to give everything for the team."
He added: "Right now, some understand that less than others, but slowly they are also beginning to understand that you can’t play 66 hours after the last game."
Why Caqueret has started
Fabregas also explained why Maxence Caqueret has started the last three matches when he was originally left off Como’s UEFA squad list at the beginning of the season. He said: "Max represents what today’s football is all about: Be quiet, work hard, bring your expertise and show the coach you’re ready to play. We have a meritocracy: You play if you deserve it. I’ve always shown that in my three years as a coach."
Words on Ignazio
Fabregas told Sky Sport Italia ahead of kick-off: "Ignazio was a tough guy as a player. Physically, he was top, he gave everything. His team represents that: Self-sacrifice, working hard for each other. Their team has improved since last year, he’s doing a good job."
