GOAL said Juventus have used a 3-5-2 because both forwards have struggled to score in the league. The report said the system suits Randal Kolo Muani and Nick Woltemade, but it could marginalise several wide attackers over the long term.
League and Europa League numbers
In eight rounds of Serie A, Kolo Muani and Woltemade have one goal and one assist between them. In Serie A, Kolo Muani has the goal and the assist, while Woltemade has neither.
In the Europa League, Kolo Muani has two goals and an assist, while Woltemade has three goals and an assist.
GOAL's view of the system
GOAL said the 3-5-2 suits Kolo Muani and Woltemade, leaving them less isolated and less besieged by opposition defenders. GOAL also said Juventus's many wide attackers suggest the 3-5-2 does not get the best out of the rest of the squad.
Wide players affected
The report named Conceicao, Boga, Zhegrova, Alajbegovic, Nico Gonzalez and Yildiz as wide attackers who could be marginalised by the formation in the long term.
GOAL said that, among those not out injured, Alajbegovic is currently the player most affected by Spalletti's recent tactical switch.
Possible changes ahead
GOAL said Yildiz is injured and that his return from injury will force Spalletti to rethink his current tactical setup. GOAL added that a possible arrival of a new centre-forward, a genuine goalscorer, could allow Spalletti to return to the 4-2-3-1 or the 4-3-3.
