Harry Kane won the 2026 Ballon d'Or in London on 26 October. After the award, Hugo Lloris spoke to L'Equipe about his former team-mate.
Kane's awards in London
Kane lifted the 2026 Ballon d'Or in London on Monday night. GOAL said he also claimed the Gerd Muller Trophy at the London Palladium on October 26.
GOAL said Kane beat Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal to become his country's first winner in 25 years. GOAL said Kane had a 73-goal campaign, won the Bundesliga title and finished third at the World Cup with England before receiving the accolade.
Lloris on Kane's skill set
The former France captain said: "I'm happy for him. It's great to see a former team-mate win the Ballon d'Or, at home in London. He has an extraordinarily complete skill set, which he has honed season after season. Today, he can do everything: short passes, long passes, tackling, tracking back to defend, and he is undoubtedly the best player in the penalty area."
Lloris on Kane's character
Lloris said: "He doesn't chase the limelight. He owes this Ballon d'Or to his sheer professionalism and humility. He is a role model in our sport. Ousmane Dembele's Ballon d'Or previously rewarded a team-first player, just like Karim Benzema in 2022. Harry is far more than just a goalscoring machine."
Bayern fixtures
GOAL said Kane had 10 goals and seven assists across 12 outings in all competitions this term at the time of publication. Bayern were due to welcome Magdeburg in the second round of the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday evening, and were due to host Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, October 31 in a Bundesliga matchday eight clash.
