Celtic lost 2-0 away to Falkirk on Sunday, increasing the pressure on manager Martin O'Neill. It was Celtic's sixth defeat in 10 matches.
McCoist calls for respect
TalkSPORT reported that Rangers hero Ally McCoist called for Celtic to show O'Neill respect and said he has earned the right to decide when to leave.
McCoist told TalkSPORT: "I think Martin has absolutely earned the right and deserves the respect to stay for as long as he feels right. I really do. I would hate Martin to overstay his time at Celtic, first and foremost for his health."
McCoist told TalkSPORT: "That’s the most important thing, because I’ve always gotten on really well with Martin. Obviously I want Rangers to win the league 100%, but Martin has more than earned the right to see things out for as long as he wants at Celtic, and that should be the case."
Donovan urges unity
Metro Sport reported that Celtic defender Colby Donovan urged supporters to stick together with the team and O'Neill.
Donovan said: "It’s never a great feeling when you see your fans like that, but that’s how Celtic fans are. We don’t pick up wins, it’s the same. We seen it at home the other night. The message is that we all just need to stick together."
Players remain behind O'Neill
Metro Sport reported that Donovan said the players remain behind O'Neill.
Donovan said: "We stick with the gaffer always, no matter who it is. When they come in here, they’re a Celtic manager. Nobody will ever turn against them."
Donovan said: "He’s some manager, you saw it last season as well. How good he was, he came in when times were tough for us and just led us to a good double. You never turn against the manager."
