Harry Kane was present only in miniature at Bayern Munich's Tuesday press conference ahead of the DFB Cup match against second-division side 1. FC Magdeburg. Assistant coach Aaron Danks also gave an update on Vincent Kompany's recovery.
Kane appears in miniature
As the press conference began, Bayern Munich head of press Dieter Nickles placed a small figurine on the table beside the microphones. The figurine was a small vinyl Harry Kane in Bayern Munich's kit. Nickles said: "Now we're all here."
Kane won the Ballon d'Or on Monday evening. Danks called it "a major honour for Bayern Munich too" and said Kane had "deserved" the award.
Kane's return and fan presentation
Danks said the team had not yet received a message from Kane. According to GOAL, Kane was on his way back from London with the rest of the Munich contingent.
Asked how and when Bayern Munich would present the Ballon d'Or to fans, Nickles said nothing had been decided yet. He said: "Wait and see!"
Danks updates on Kompany
Danks said he visited Kompany in hospital on Monday. He said: "He's in good spirits. It looks as though he's getting better every day. That's very positive."
There was still no update on a diagnosis or on Kompany's return to work. Danks said Kompany was "very calm. He's being given time to recover."
What they discussed in hospital
Danks said his conversations with Kompany were "good conversations, but they had nothing to do with football or tactics," He added that Kompany "asked how we were, how the players were. But apart from that, it was just a conversation between friends. It was nice to see him."
As the press conference ended, Nickles pointed to the miniature Kane and said: "Thank you all. We'll see you tomorrow at the arena – with him."
