Mjallby drew with Kalmar in the Allsvenskan, a result that moved them seven points clear of Degerfors with three matches to play. In the other game, GAIS beat AIK, leaving AIK eighth and only one point ahead of 10th-placed GAIS.
Mjallby and Kalmar share the points
The draw also took Kalmar three clear of Degerfors. Alexander Lundin earned a first league clean sheet since mid-July.
Penalty appeal and survival picture
The referee did not award Kalmar a penalty after Lundin appeared to take a goal kick short to Axel Noren, who then handled the ball in preparation to take the goal kick himself.
Mjallby will be safe with one more win, or if Degerfors fail to win all of their last three starting with welcoming GAIS on Saturday 7th November.
GAIS defeat AIK
GAIS made it two wins in a row and went unbeaten in three with the victory over AIK. For AIK, it is one win in four.
Max Andersson scored the opening goal for GAIS. Rasmus Niklasson made it 2-0 for GAIS in the first 10 minutes of the second half. Axel Kouame scored for AIK in the 76th minute.
League positions
AIK's slim European hopes had already been ended by other results going against them this round. AIK sit eighth, now just a point ahead of GAIS in 10th.
