1. FC Magdeburg lost 6-1 away to Bayern Munich in a cup match at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday. After the game, Alexander Nollenberger used a post-match ARD interview to discuss nutmegging Michael Olise during the match.
How the match unfolded
Olise scored in the 10th minute, and Mateusz Zukowski scored for Magdeburg in the 15th minute. Ismael Saibari put Bayern ahead in the 21st minute, and Magdeburg were 2-1 behind at half-time.
Baris Atik hit the post in the 45+2 minute. Bayern went on to win 6-1.
Nollenberger on the nutmeg
The 29-year-old Nollenberger said in his post-match ARD interview: "I almost need to frame that."
He also said: "It was a bit lucky, but I'll take it. In the end, though, it doesn't do me any good."
His view of Bayern
Nollenberger said: "What a machine."
He added: "We kept it close until half-time at 2-1; we were still within striking distance. Then came the penalty to make it 3-1, and they just didn't stop. They don't stop. And in the end, you can't defend everything away."
He also said: "The scoreline isn't close, but that can happen against them."
Travelling support and the occasion
GOAL said at least 10,000 fans are said to have travelled to Munich's Allianz Arena on Wednesday evening. According to Bild, the number of travelling supporters could even have been 13,000.
According to GOAL, the last comparable away following at the Allianz Arena for a domestic match came at a TSV 1860 Munich home game in spring 2017, when VfB Stuttgart brought 15,000 fans to Munich.
Nollenberger said: "It was incredibly beautiful and surreal. Everything around the game was great fun."
