Christian Pulisic said after Milan's 3-1 win over Inter on Saturday that his new contract until 2031 felt really good and that he wanted to repay the club's fans. He scored the opening goal in the Derby della Madonnina.
Contract extension before the derby
A few days before the game against Inter, Pulisic had signed a contract extension until 2031. Pulisic told CBS at full time: "I guess I wasn’t thinking too much about the contract, but it does feel really good. What this club has given me, from top to bottom. The confidence they’ve given me. To repay these fans on a day like today, but I want to give them so much more because they really restarted my career and helped me in so many ways, so I owe it to them."
Numbers in the derby and this season
Pulisic has now scored four goals in the Derby della Madonnina. He has scored three goals and provided one assist in nine games across all competitions this season.
Pulisic on big matches
Pulisic said: "I love playing in the biggest games. The atmosphere was incredible today, and winning again is always special."
He also said: "I like to play in big games; we’re always very motivated, and we seem to do well against Inter in recent times. For us, it’s about finding consistency in all other games because we seem to find a little extra motivation for these ones."
Milan figures and standings
Pulisic joined Milan from Chelsea in 2023 for a €21m deal. He has scored 45 goals in 143 games for Milan. Milan are fifth in the Serie A standings with 21 points in 10 matches, seven points below table leaders Lazio.
