Atalanta drew 2-2 away to Fiorentina on 29 October. Maurizio Sarri said he was worried because Atalanta's injury situation kept becoming more complicated.
How the match unfolded
Thomas Kristensen limped off clutching the back of his thigh in the opening five minutes. Charles De Ketelaere gave Atalanta the lead, Fiorentina then went ahead after the break through goals from Alieu Njie and Joao Mario, and Nicola Zalewski scored for the 2-2 result.
Delay after half-time
Federico La Penna sustained a muscular problem during the half-time break, and the restart was delayed while fourth official Livio Marinelli got ready to take over. Sarri told DAZN Italia: "The approach to the second half wasn’t easy, because the break was longer than expected due to the referee’s injury."
Sarri on the injury situation
Sarri told DAZN Italia: "Our situation just keeps getting more complicated. I don’t know if Gianluca Gaetano has an issue too, I haven’t spoken to the doctor yet."
Sarri told DAZN Italia: "I will admit, I am worried. We had eight players out today and two more who were just coming back to the bench. It’s not a simple situation, but we won’t feel sorry for ourselves either."
Football Italia listed Atalanta's missing players as Gianluca Scamacca, Raoul Bellanova, Giacomo Raspadori, Franck Kessie, Sead Kolasinac, Isak Hien, Thomas Pompei and Odilon Kossounou.
De Ketelaere's contribution
Sarri told DAZN Italia: "Fiorentina started strong, but we stayed in the game and created many situations that we could’ve made more of."
Sarri told DAZN Italia: "Considering the difficulties we are dealing with at the moment, we are still alive and kicking. Compared to a few disappointing performances we put in a few weeks ago, I’d say we are alive."
Sarri said Charles De Ketelaere scored a goal and provided the assist for Zalewski. Speaking about De Ketelaere, Sarri told DAZN Italia: "He had to give a response, and that’s what he did."
