Yael Trepy returned for Cagliari on 27 October in a 4-2 Serie A defeat to Roma at the Stadio Olimpico. Football Italia said the comeback came two months after he nearly died in a swimming pool.
Return against Roma
The 20-year-old striker came off the bench against Roma. He almost marked his return with a goal by immediately sprinting into the box and forcing a save from Pierluigi Gollini.
Accident and recovery
Football Italia said that three days after Cagliari's Coppa Italia win over Arezzo on August 14, Trepy was at a rented villa with friends when he got into difficulty after taking a dip in the swimming pool without realising how deep it was. He was rushed to hospital and kept in intensive care while fluid was removed from his lungs, and he made a full recovery.
Trepy's Cagliari background
Trepy is a product of the Cagliari youth academy. He had impressed for Cagliari in pre-season and started their Coppa Italia win over Arezzo on August 14.
