UEFA has barred Lens supporters from the club's next two Champions League away matches after crowd trouble at Club Brugge, including the trip to Liverpool on 27 January.

UEFA has barred Lens supporters from attending the club's next two away matches in the Champions League league phase, against RB Leipzig on 24 November and Liverpool at Anfield on 27 January. The sanction followed crowd trouble during Lens' game at Club Brugge.

The UEFA ruling

UEFA barred Lens from selling tickets to their travelling fans for their next two away fixtures in the competition. The ban will be served when Lens travel to Leipzig on 24 November and to Liverpool on 27 January.

UEFA also said a third game ban has been deferred for a two-year probationary period.

Reason for the sanction

UEFA said the ruling followed Lens fans lighting flares and throwing some toward rival supporters and the field during the team's Champions League game at Club Brugge, which was briefly stopped.

UEFA said Lens have been fined 80,000 euros for charges of "lighting and throwing of pyrotechnics as well as for acts of damage."

Previous probation and standings

UEFA said Lens were already on probation after similar incidents at a previous Champions League game at Slavia Prague in September.

Lens lost 3-0 at Club Brugge and are 27th in the league phase table with three points from three matches. Liverpool are third in the Champions League standings after taking maximum points from their opening three fixtures.
