Surrender Rules at a Fixed Los Angeles Cardroom

The Surrender Question Depends on the Table, Not the Building

Commerce Casino sits 7.0 straight-line miles from Los Angeles, a figure that tells you only how the venue relates to a map, not how any particular blackjack table inside it is configured. Surrender in blackjack is not a building-wide feature; it is a table rule that can differ between felt layouts, minimums, and even shifts within the same cardroom. The only reliable way to know whether surrender is offered at a specific table is to read the felt or ask the dealer before you sit down.

This article gives you the fixed geography of the venue and the mechanism behind table rules like surrender. It does not publish a current surrender policy for any table, because no such fact is fixed.

Where the Venue Sits

Commerce Casino is located in the Los Angeles suburb of Commerce, California. Its documented coordinates place it at 33.998407 north latitude and -118.144587 west longitude, which puts it south and east of downtown Los Angeles proper. The venue is a cardroom, not a full-scale resort casino, and its identity as a cardroom matters for the games it can spread under California law.

The venue's documented scale is significant: publicly published reference sources describe it as having over 240 tables on site, making it the largest cardroom in the world as of the time those figures were recorded. Facility figures like table counts are revised as properties expand or reconfigure, so treat that number as a documented point in time rather than a live count.

Straight-Line Distances to Reference Points

The table below lists every documented straight-line distance from Commerce Casino to a reference city or landmark. All figures are great-circle measurements, meaning the shortest path over the earth's surface, not a road route. Road distance is always longer, and this article does not publish driving mileage or travel time.

Why Straight-Line Distance Is Not Your Drive

A great-circle figure measures the shortest path over the earth's curved surface between two coordinate pairs. It ignores everything that shapes a trip: mountain ranges, water crossings, the grid of surface streets, highway routing, and state boundaries. The Los Angeles basin is a particularly clear example, because the road network fans out around topography and dense development rather than following a compass line.

For a venue in Commerce, California, the practical effect is that even a reference point only 7.0 straight-line miles away can involve a meaningfully longer road trip depending on which side of the Los Angeles River, which freeway corridor, and which surface streets the route uses. This article does not publish road mileage or travel time for any pair, because those figures change with routing, traffic, construction, and time of day.

How to Measure From Your Own Starting Point

The venue's position is fixed; your starting point is not. If a question asks for distance "from me" or "from here," there is no single answer this article can compute, because no reader location exists in the data. What you can do is take the venue's documented coordinates and measure from wherever you are.

Open any mapping tool, drop the venue's latitude and longitude, and set your own origin. The tool will return a road route and a driving time based on current conditions, which is exactly the figure this article will not estimate. Use the straight-line table above only to understand relative position, not to plan a drive.

What Governs a Blackjack Surrender Rule

Surrender is a blackjack option that lets a player forfeit half the original wager and end the hand before playing it out, in situations where the player's first two cards look weak against the dealer's upcard. Some tables offer late surrender, where the player can only surrender after the dealer checks for blackjack; others offer no surrender at all. The rule is printed on the table layout or posted on the table sign when it is available.

Because Commerce Casino is a cardroom with a large number of tables, the surrender rule is not something this article can state as a building-wide fact. A cardroom may spread different blackjack variants, different minimums, and different side-bet configurations across its floor, and each table's rules are what bind the play. Ask the dealer or the floor supervisor at the specific table you are considering, before you buy in.

What to Confirm Before You Go

If your trip depends on a specific blackjack rule, confirm it with the venue's own table games staff or its published game rules page before you travel. Table rules can change without any change to the building's address or its straight-line distances.

• Whether the specific blackjack variant you want to play is currently spread, and at what minimum.
• Whether surrender is offered at that table, and whether it is late surrender or another form.
• Whether the table uses a shoe, a continuous shuffler, or another dealing method, if that matters to your play.
• The venue's current hours and entry requirements, which this article does not publish.
• Parking and access from your route, which depend on your origin and the current road network.
