Clarification of the Rumors
Recent reports claimed that Aave founder Stani Kulechov sold 250,000 AAVE tokens to the cryptocurrency exchange Kraken at a discount of approximately 70%. Kulechov swiftly denied the report, stating clearly that it is not true. He confirmed that Aave Labs does hold a token allocation and has received expressions of interest from multiple parties, but stressed that the company would never sell tokens at such a steep discount.
Notably, Kulechov acknowledged that Aave is currently in negotiations with several strategic partners regarding long-term collaboration, but provided no further details on the nature of these talks or the identities of the partners.
Protocol Financials and Future Plans
While addressing the false rumors, Kulechov also shared insights into the financial health of the Aave protocol. He revealed that the annualized revenue of the Aave protocol is approximately $134 million, all of which is directed to the Aave DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization), not to the development company Aave Labs. This structure underscores the commitment to decentralized governance, with protocol-generated value flowing back to the community.
Looking ahead, Kulechov indicated that the team is working on a new initiative called Aavenomics 3.0. The core feature of this proposal is the introduction of an automated AAVE token buyback mechanism, which would replace the current model that requires a governance vote before each buyback. If implemented, this could make token repurchases more efficient and predictable, providing more stable value support for AAVE holders.
