AI-themed crypto tokens suffered broad declines over the past week and month, even as the AI narrative remains strong globally. TAO, NEAR, ICP, and RENDER all posted heavy losses, while FARTCOIN stood out as a rare gainer.

AI-related cryptocurrencies are going through a sharp correction, with most leading tokens posting deep weekly and monthly losses despite artificial intelligence remaining one of the strongest narratives in global technology markets. The latest performance snapshot shows that the AI crypto segment has struggled across the board, suggesting that hype alone has not been enough to shield the sector from broader risk-off sentiment.

According to the report, the pullback has affected nearly every major project tied to AI infrastructure, autonomous agents, decentralized compute, or machine-learning networks. Even though bitcoin briefly climbed back above $91,000, offering the wider market some relief, the rebound has not been strong enough to erase the damage already recorded across AI tokens over the last 30 days.

Large-cap AI tokens remain under pressure

Bittensor’s TAO, often viewed as one of the flagship assets in decentralized AI, fell 6.8% over the past seven days and 23.55% over the last month. The token was trading at just above $288, showing that even category leaders have not escaped the downturn. TAO is tied to a decentralized intelligence network that rewards contributors for developing machine-learning models, but that utility has not translated into price support in the current market environment.

NEAR, another widely followed name because of its push toward AI-native applications, posted a weekly decline of 9.64% and a monthly drop of 39.61%. The report also notes that NEAR remains down 92% from its all-time high. That drawdown highlights the scale of the repricing taking place in tokens that were once viewed as core infrastructure for AI-driven decentralized applications.

Internet Computer (ICP) also remained firmly in negative territory. Its token fell 14.86% over the week and a striking 61.85% over 30 days, with the asset trading near $3.39. ICP has been positioned as a network capable of supporting onchain AI applications and full-stack decentralized apps, but market performance suggests investors have been far more focused on preserving capital than on long-term product narratives.

Compute, agent, and IP-focused projects also fell sharply

Render (RENDER), known for its decentralized GPU-sharing model, declined 11.87% on the week and 30.52% on the month, leaving the token around $1.57. Given Render’s role in distributed compute, especially for graphics and AI workloads, its weakness underscores how widespread the selling has become across the segment.

Story Protocol (IP), a project centered on tokenized intellectual property and programmable licensing, recorded one of the steeper drops in the group. The token lost 21.01% over seven days and 44.28% over 30 days, changing hands near $2.10. The numbers suggest that innovative use cases alone have not been enough to keep traders engaged in a market increasingly hostile to speculative sectors.

Virtuals Protocol (VIRTUAL), which focuses on autonomous onchain AI agents, fell 11.46% on the week and 38.32% across the month. The token was quoted at about $0.88. While the project’s premise—tokenized AI entities that may eventually generate revenue—remains part of the broader AI-onchain narrative, current price action points to fading investor appetite for future-facing stories without immediate support from market momentum.

AI alliances and data infrastructure names were not spared

Injective (INJ), a finance-oriented layer-one blockchain with AI-powered trading and prediction features, dropped 9.25% over the past week and 25.8% over the month. At around $5.39, INJ performed somewhat better than some peers, but it still remained clearly in the red and unable to decouple from broader weakness in AI-linked assets.

Artificial Superintelligence Alliance (FET) posted a 11.9% seven-day decline and a 28.66% monthly loss. The alliance combines Fetch.ai, SingularityNET, and Ocean Protocol, making it one of the most recognizable collaborative efforts in decentralized AI. Even so, the market did not reward that scale, and the token traded around $0.23.

Meanwhile, The Graph (GRT), a key indexing protocol that supports blockchain data access and can serve AI-adjacent applications, dropped 10.47% during the week and 30.05% during the month. Its price fell to about $0.045, roughly 98% below its all-time high of $2.65. That level of drawdown illustrates how deeply sentiment has weakened, even for infrastructure projects that sit closer to the foundation of the onchain data stack.

One notable exception: FARTCOIN

Amid a sea of red, FARTCOIN, an AI-themed meme token, stood out as the rare outperformer. It gained 13.73% over the past week and 38.16% over the month, trading around $0.379. While the move offered one bright spot, it also reinforced an uncomfortable market truth: in weak conditions, speculative meme activity can sometimes outperform projects with more direct infrastructure or utility narratives.

The report also mentioned THETA, priced near $0.331, as another token that continued to show multi-timeframe weakness. This further supported the idea that the downturn is not isolated to one or two underperforming names. Instead, it appears to reflect a broader reset across AI-linked digital assets.

Narrative strength remains, but price action tells a different story

The key takeaway is that the AI theme itself has not disappeared. AI remains one of the most powerful stories in technology, and many of these projects are still building around automation, decentralized compute, data infrastructure, autonomous agents, and blockchain-based machine learning. In fundamental terms, the category still has a clear identity and a range of use cases that continue to attract attention.

However, crypto markets are ultimately driven not just by narrative appeal, but by liquidity, timing, and investor risk tolerance. The latest numbers indicate that traders have become much more selective, and in many cases are choosing to reduce exposure rather than bet on future adoption. That has left the sector vulnerable to heavy declines, even as broader public interest in AI remains elevated.

For now, the AI crypto market appears to be in a phase of reassessment. If buyers regain confidence, some of the current losses could prove to be a temporary reset. If caution persists, the sector may face a longer valuation adjustment before enthusiasm returns in a meaningful way. Either way, the recent performance data makes one point clear: AI hype alone has not been enough to protect tokens from a harsh month in the crypto market.
