AMD is close to finalizing negotiations with Samsung Electronics on a formal large-scale HBM4 supply agreement, according to The Seoul Economic Daily. AMD CEO Lisa Su said the talks are “near completion,” following a memorandum of understanding signed in March. That MOU covered priority HBM4 supply from Samsung for AMD’s next-generation AI accelerators and also included plans to advance foundry cooperation between the two companies.
Su also said at the “AMD Advancing AI 2026” event that Helios, AMD’s AI server rack system, has entered full-scale mass production and is expected to begin shipping at the end of the third quarter. As Helios moves into production, AMD and Samsung are discussing a more specific contract to expand HBM4 supply. Samsung executives Han Jin-man and Cho Sang-yeon attended the event and continued talks with AMD executives, including CTO Joseph Macri, after the presentation. Asked about follow-up HBM supply and whether Samsung could manufacture AMD chips, Macri said only that the two sides remain in a “cooperative relationship.”
