Amp, an AI coding tool, said it now supports Claude Pro and Claude Max subscriptions and is opening the integration to all users at no extra charge. To use it, users start a new task in "Claude Code" mode and link their Claude account. Usage is then counted against their existing Claude subscription limits, so there is no need to buy separate model credits from Amp.
The new mode runs the official Claude Code through the Claude Agent SDK while keeping Amp’s existing features, including cloud computers, task sharing, multi-user collaboration and agent orchestration. Amp also said only the Claude Code mode can use a Claude subscription. Its existing Medium, High and Ultra modes are excluded.
On pricing, local runs remain free, while Amp’s cloud computer still requires payment. The update also comes against a policy backdrop at Anthropic. The company had previously restricted third-party tools from using Claude subscriptions, paused that policy change in June this year, and confirmed again in October that third-party apps can still use subscription quotas. Its developer documentation, however, still says third-party products must obtain prior approval if they offer Claude login or subscription quota access.
