Onchain analytics platform OnchainLens has flagged an ancient Bitcoin whale address that sent another 1,000 BTC to Binance, currently valued at approximately $71.57 million.
The address originally accumulated 5,000 Bitcoin between 2012 and 2013, when the average price ranged from $100 to $200. Its total acquisition cost is estimated at under $750,000.
70% of Holdings Already Moved
On-chain data shows the wallet has transferred a cumulative 3,500 BTC to Binance, representing 70% of its original stash. This latest deposit of 1,000 BTC is the most recent in a series of batch transfers.
The address currently retains 1,500 BTC, worth about $106 million at current prices.
Moving large amounts of Bitcoin to a centralized exchange is typically seen as a potential sell signal, as the primary reason for inbound exchange flows is preparing to sell. However, some high-net-worth holders also use exchange deposits for collateralized lending or margin positions, not necessarily for immediate liquidation.
While 1,000 BTC is no longer a sum that can rock the market, every move by an ancient whale reminds the market that someone is cashing out at margins unimaginable a decade ago. Such holders need little attention to sentiment or charts — their paper profit alone is enough to pull the trigger at any time.
