Over the past week, a mysterious individual performed two extraordinary transactions on the Ethereum blockchain: burning 603 ETH (worth roughly $1.63 million) and donating 1,950 ETH (approximately $5.28 million), for a combined value of nearly $7 million. The anonymous donor, who calls himself “Hu Lezhi,” encoded disturbing messages in each transaction.
Self-described Programmer Claims Mind Control
In the on-chain notes, Lezhi identifies himself as an “ordinary computer programmer and entrepreneur.” He accuses Feng Xin, co-founder of Chinese hedge fund Wizard Quant, and Xu Yuzhi, the fund’s CIO, of using “brain-computer weapons” to persecute all current and former employees. He even writes, “They themselves are controlled as well.” Lezhi claims he has been manipulated by a “mind control organization” since birth but only discovered the truth in October 2022.
Peculiar Warnings and Suicidal Thoughts
Lezhi elaborates that brain-computer chips are being deployed “to control all citizens,” eventually turning people into “complete slaves to the digital machine.” Perhaps the most alarming part of his message is his contemplation of suicide: “I have been very painful in the past two years. I have completely lost my dignity as a human being. I have decided to leave this world and hope that this ugly world will be destroyed soon.” While the claims might sound paranoid or nonsensical, spending $7 million to publish them for the world to see lends some credibility to his story.
As of press time, attempts by Bitcoin.com to reach Wizard Quant via its listed email address failed. The incident has sparked widespread discussion in the crypto community, with many expressing concern over the donor's mental state and urging attention to mental health issues.
