Anthropic announced it will permanently raise Claude Code's standard weekly quota by 25% starting September 14, covering Pro, Max, Team, and per-seat Enterprise plans. The framing, however, masks a cut for existing users. Current accounts are still receiving a temporary 50% boost on top of the original baseline, which means a user who previously had a standard quota of 100 now gets 150. When the temporary top-up ends, the new permanent standard settles at 125. That takes the effective allowance from 150 down to 125, a decline of roughly 16.7%. Anthropic later confirmed in a follow-up post that the change is a 17% reduction relative to today's quota. The announcement touched off confusion because the company described the move as a quota increase, while current users are actually losing access to part of the temporary capacity they were granted. The permanent 25% raise only looks like an upgrade when measured against the old baseline, not against the elevated level users have today.
Anthropic said it will permanently raise the standard weekly quota for Claude Code by 25% starting September 14. The increase applies to Pro, Max, Team, and per-seat Enterprise plans. For current users, though, the headline bump translates into a smaller allowance. If the old standard quota is set at 100, users are now receiving 150 because of a temporary 50% top-up. Once that temporary boost ends on September 14, the new baseline becomes 125. Moving from 150 to 125 is a drop of roughly 16.7%. Anthropic later confirmed in a reply that the change means a 17% decrease compared with today's level.
