BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes executed a large on-chain sell-off just three days after initiating a public $100,000 charity bet. According to data from Onchain Lens, Hayes dumped 247,334 HYPE tokens valued at approximately $18.02 million, while also offloading an undisclosed amount of NEAR in the same transaction.
Three days earlier, Hayes had openly challenged Kyle Samani, a partner at cryptocurrency hedge fund Multicoin Capital, to a bet: he claimed that HYPE would outperform every cryptocurrency in the top-10 by market cap by the end of 2026. If wrong, Hayes would donate $100,000 to charity. At the time, he expressed strong conviction in HYPE's future performance.
The timing of this significant sell-off—mere days after betting on HYPE's dominance—stood in stark contrast to his previous bullish stance. As of press time, Kyle Samani has not publicly commented on Hayes's divestment.
