According to an official announcement cited by Odaily, Base is set to launch the Beryl hard fork upgrade. The upgrade will introduce the B20 native token standard and reduce the finalization period for single-proof withdrawals from 7 days to 5 days. It also includes an upgrade to Reth V2, which is described as reducing disk usage by 50% and increasing throughput by 33%.
The activation schedule has also been specified. Beryl will go live on the Sepolia testnet at 2:00 a.m. UTC+8 on June 19, followed by mainnet activation at 2:00 a.m. UTC+8 on June 26. The rollout sequence places the testnet activation ahead of the mainnet upgrade.
B20 is described as Base’s native token standard. It is an ERC-20-compatible token implemented through Rust precompiles and is designed for stablecoin, RWA and long-tail token issuers. The standard includes a built-in compliance toolkit covering transfer policies, freezing and seizure, role-based access control, memos and supply caps.
