Odaily reported that Base lead Jesse Pollak introduced the latest development direction for Base during today’s “Coinbase System Update: Take Control” event. According to Pollak’s presentation, Base is working to become a platform capable of carrying global financial activity. That positioning was reflected across several product and infrastructure updates announced during the event.
Tokenized stocks and the B20 standard
On the asset side, Base announced that it will support the tokenized stocks launched by Coinbase. Base also introduced the B20 native token standard. These two updates were presented as part of Base’s current expansion, placing tokenized stock support and a native token standard within the same broader framework for on-chain financial activity.
The event also included updates for Base App. Base App will support Solana, Bitcoin, and multiple EVM networks, and it will also launch a web version. With these additions, Base App is set to extend beyond its existing access points and cover interactions across several blockchain networks mentioned in the announcement. The web version was disclosed alongside the new network support as part of Base’s wider product direction.
Base MCP, AI agent actions and enterprise requirements
Base also launched Base MCP, a tool that allows AI agents to carry out on-chain activities under user authorization. The supported activities include transfers, trading, swaps, and lending. The announcement specifically framed these actions around user permission, meaning the AI agent’s execution of on-chain operations is tied to authorization from the user.
Base also provided figures on stablecoin payments. The project said it has processed more than $19 trillion in stablecoin payment volume this year and currently supports more than 25 local-currency stablecoins. In addition, Base introduced private transactions and a new ledger architecture designed to meet enterprise compliance and audit requirements. Together, these disclosures outline Base’s current focus areas: stablecoin payments, enterprise-oriented transaction and record systems, cross-network app access, tokenized assets, and authorized AI-driven on-chain activity.
