Russian telecom operator Beeline said its anti-fraud platform has blocked more than 870 million unwanted calls so far this year, according to remarks made by CEO Sergey Anokhin on Oct. 6 at the Digital Solutions forum in Moscow. The company also routes scam calls to AI voice assistants instead of real users. Beeline calls the system its “cyber family.” The assistants impersonate characters such as a grandmother, a teenager, a mother, and a father, keeping scammers on the line and consuming time that could otherwise be used to call real people. The company said the system has handled 19.1 million calls this year, with total call time reaching about 140,000 hours. That figure works out to roughly 5,833 days, which Beeline described as nearly 6,000 days. Anokhin said the calls also generate material that can be used to retrain the models, allowing the assistants to improve over time. Beeline previously said it began by testing a “cyber grandmother” in November 2025 before expanding the product in August this year into a broader lineup with 10 voices. The feature is included in the company’s free basic service tier for all users.

Russian telecom operator Beeline said its anti-fraud platform has blocked more than 870 million unwanted calls so far this year. CEO Sergey Anokhin disclosed the figure on Oct. 6 while speaking at the Digital Solutions forum in Moscow.

Beyond blocking calls, Beeline said it also routes scam calls to AI voice assistants. The company refers to the lineup as its “cyber family,” with assistants taking on roles such as a grandmother, a teenager, a mother, and a father to keep scammers talking and tie up their time.

According to Beeline, the cyber family has handled 19.1 million calls this year, with total conversation time reaching about 140,000 hours. That equals roughly 5,833 days; Beeline described it as “nearly 6,000 days,” saying this was time scammers could otherwise have spent calling real people.

Anokhin said at the forum: “We went a step further and built our own cyber family, with a cyber grandmother, a cyber teenager, a mother and a father. We route scam calls to them so people do not have to waste time and do not lose property. For us, this is also a large body of material that can be used to retrain the model, so they get stronger every time.”

From one AI grandmother to 10 voices

Beeline said in November 2025 that it was testing a “cyber grandmother,” an AI system designed to speak with scam groups while posing as an elderly woman. Under the company’s description at the time, the system first analyzed what the scammer said, then used a large language model, or LLM, to generate a reply based on the conversation context, converting that response into speech in less than one second.

In August this year, Beeline said the cyber family had gone live with additional roles including a cyber grandfather, a mother, and a father, bringing the total number of voices to 10. The AI selects a voice based on the number receiving the call, then randomly assigns a personality, profession, and hobbies. If the same scam call reaches the same number again within five hours, the same character answers.

Beeline also said at the time that nearly every day, a member of the cyber family completes a call lasting about one hour. The feature is included in Beeline’s free basic service plan and is available to all users.

Company did not break out scam-call share

On the figure of more than 870 million unwanted calls, Beeline said only that this was the total blocked by its anti-fraud platform this year. The company did not specify how many of those calls were confirmed scam calls.
