Campaign Overview and Timing
Binance Futures has announced that it will launch a trading fee discount campaign for its U (United Stables) perpetual contracts starting July 2, 2026, at 18:00 (UTC+8). The first batch includes BTCU and ETHU, representing Bitcoin and Ethereum stablecoin-denominated perpetuals. The campaign begins at the scheduled time and will continue until further notice from Binance.
Fee Discount Details
The discount applies across all user tiers, from Regular to VIP 9. Specific terms are as follows:
- Maker fees: All users (Regular up to VIP 9) will pay zero maker fees when trading U-series perpetual contracts. This removes the cost for limit orders, significantly reducing market-making expenses.
- Taker fee discounts: Regular users to VIP 3 users enjoy a 20% discount on taker fees; VIP 4 to VIP 9 users receive a 50% discount. These discounts encourage active taking, improving market depth.
Market and Trader Impact
U-series contracts are Binance's stablecoin-denominated perpetuals (e.g., USDT margined), complementing traditional coin-margined contracts. The zero-maker-fee campaign will attract market makers, quant funds, and high-frequency traders to BTCU and ETHU. In the short term, liquidity is expected to increase, spreads will narrow, and the campaign may pave the way for additional U-contract listings. For retail traders, 20%–50% taker discounts directly reduce trading costs, especially for intraday scalpers.
Comparison with Competitors
Top exchanges like Binance, OKX, and Bybit frequently run fee waiver campaigns on specific contracts to compete for liquidity. Binance's zero-maker-fee offer for its newly launched U-series is comparable in strength to its 2025 promotions on certain mainstream perpetuals, but with broader user coverage (including VIP 9). If competitors follow suit, a fee war in U-margined perpetuals may intensify, but Binance's brand and user base give it a near-term advantage in capturing incremental volume.
Traders should note: the discount applies only to U-series perpetual contracts, not to other pairs (e.g., traditional USDT perpetuals or coin-margined contracts). Taker fee discounts are applied only to passive filled orders; final fee calculations should refer to Binance's official announcement.
