On-chain data showed that more than $2 billion in Ether and tokens moved out of Binance hot wallets in the early hours of Oct. 30 Beijing time and into a newly created address that had existed for only a few hours. The address was activated by a Tornado Cash funding transaction. Binance had not said whether customer funds were affected. Etherscan data cited in the report showed Binance 14 transferred 167,464 ETH, worth about $388 million, along with 1.6 billion USDT. Binance 16 then moved another 28,005 ETH. The receiving address later sent out 195,460 ETH. On-chain researcher Spreek said the activity could be routine wallet maintenance, but added that it "looks very suspicious." Market alert account Tree News put the outflow at about $2.53 billion across more than 60 tokens and said the incident appeared to be a suspected key compromise. The report was attributed to BeInCrypto.
