Binance, one of the world's leading cryptocurrency exchanges, has announced significant updates to its Binance Junior platform, designed to help children and teenagers aged 6 to 17 learn about digital assets in a safe, parent-controlled environment. Since its launch in December 2025, the platform has focused on promoting savings and responsible money management. The latest expansion introduces Red Packet Gifting, Merchant Pay options, and the integration of the ABCs of Crypto e-book directly within the app, creating a more interactive learning experience.

New Features: Red Packets and Merchant Pay

Timed with Ramadan and the Chinese Lunar New Year, Binance is encouraging families to share cryptocurrency Red Packets—a modern, cashless twist on a cherished tradition. Juniors receive instant notifications and wallet credits when gifted. Beyond gifting, the Merchant Pay feature allows approved purchases at selected merchants while excluding restricted categories like gambling and tobacco. This gives children practical experience in managing digital finances responsibly.

The updates were inspired by community feedback, according to Binance co-CEO Yi He. “Binance Junior is a family-focused platform designed for children to manage their allowance with savings and payment features. By helping children develop good money management habits early on, we hope to empower families to build a strong foundation for their financial future,” she said.

Parental Controls and Safety

Parents retain full oversight with tools to monitor activity, set permissions, and enforce an annual limit of $12,000 on crypto transfers and Red Packet gifts. This ensures children can explore digital assets within a safe framework, balancing education with risk management. The platform aligns with Binance's broader push for global crypto literacy, including initiatives like Binance Academy and partnerships with organizations such as Africell in Africa, which deliver workshops, co-branded courses, and accessible learning tools to bridge the digital divide.

Educational Core: ABCs of Crypto

The fully integrated ABCs of Crypto e-book provides illustrated lessons that simplify complex blockchain and cryptocurrency concepts, building confidence among young users. By combining allowance management, payments, and accessible learning, Binance aims to foster intergenerational financial education. Yi He added that the company plans more updates to make crypto education fun and accessible, growing the platform alongside its users as digital finance becomes increasingly central to everyday life.
