Binance trading and exchange business head Shunyet Jan said the next battleground for financial platforms will extend well beyond crypto trading. He said competition is moving toward platforms that combine investing, payments, lending and asset management in a single ecosystem spanning both traditional finance and digital assets. Jan, who previously spent about 30 years at Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and JPMorgan, said traditional finance retains strengths in regulation, risk management and functional separation, while the crypto sector has an edge in 24/7 trading, fast settlement and openness. In his view, those two systems are set to converge more quickly. He said Binance wants to offer features such as a unified account, cross-asset margin, tokenized assets and stablecoin payments so users can tap the financial value of their holdings without selling the underlying assets. He also said the company is exploring how AI can simplify asset selection and risk management. Jan added that Binance now has more than 300 million users, most of them in emerging markets. Among users of its direct equity and tokenized stock products, about 90% come from emerging markets. He said Binance’s long-term goal is to expand its user base from 300 million to 3 billion and become financial infrastructure accessible to more people.

Binance trading and exchange business head Shunyet Jan said competition among future financial platforms will no longer center only on crypto asset trading, but on combining investing, payments, lending and asset management into a broader financial ecosystem covering both traditional finance and crypto markets.

Jan said he spent about 30 years working at Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and JPMorgan. He said traditional finance has advantages in regulation, risk management and functional separation, while the crypto industry is more competitive in 24/7 trading, fast settlement and openness. He said the two sectors are likely to converge at a faster pace.

He added that Binance wants to use tools such as a unified account, cross-asset margin, tokenized assets and stablecoin payments to let users make use of the financial value of their holdings without having to sell the underlying assets. He also said Binance is exploring the use of AI to simplify asset selection and risk management.

Jan disclosed that Binance currently has more than 300 million users, with most of them coming from emerging markets. Among users of its direct stock and tokenized stock products, about 90% are from emerging markets. He said Binance’s long-term goal is to grow its user base from 300 million to 3 billion and become financial infrastructure that more people can access.
