Options Traders Maintain Defensive Stance
Anchorage Digital's latest analysis shows that Bitcoin options traders are continuing to take defensive positions as near-term uncertainty persists. The report highlights that although macroeconomic and regulatory headwinds have increased volatility, traders are not betting on catastrophic declines. Instead, they use standard hedging instruments to control risk exposure.
A notable focus is on the options pricing related to Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy). The data indicates that the options market does not price an extreme downside scenario for the firm—meaning no disaster liquidation or forced unwinding is being priced in. This contrasts with some speculative fears of a capitulation event.
Market Sentiment and Risk Pricing
By tracking Bitcoin option implied volatility and skew, Anchorage Digital's research team found that demand for short-term put options remains higher than for calls, reflecting a cautious outlook on near-term price direction. However, deep out-of-the-money put options have not seen a surge in prices, implying that traders assign a low probability to an extreme price collapse in the near future.
The report also notes that stablecoin inflows have remained steady, and on-chain wallet counts show no abnormal changes. These on-chain metrics, combined with options signals, point to a state of 'limited pessimism': investors worry about a pullback but are unwilling to pay elevated premiums for tail-risk protection.
