A sharp move higher in Bitcoin pushed crypto derivatives traders into one of the largest liquidation waves in the past day, with short sellers taking the bulk of the damage. According to CoinGlass, total liquidations across the crypto market reached about $1.345 billion over the last 24 hours, affecting 105,370 traders. Of that amount, roughly $1.191 billion came from short positions, while long liquidations stood at about $153 million.
Among exchanges, Binance recorded the largest liquidation volume at around $559 million, followed by Bybit at $311 million, Gate at $111 million, and Bitget at $101 million. Most of the forced closures were short positions. Bitcoin and Ether contracts saw the biggest liquidation totals during the move, with BTC short liquidations hitting about $662 million over 24 hours and ETH short liquidations reaching about $366 million. CoinGlass data also showed that in just the past hour, total crypto liquidations came to about $1.194 billion, including about $1.116 billion in shorts and $77.51 million in longs, leaving shorts with a 93.51% share.
