A packed calendar is lined up for Sept. 21-27, with several crypto market deadlines and product changes already scheduled. Moscow Exchange is set to launch crypto index perpetual futures tied to BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP and TRX on Sept. 22, offering cash-settled contracts priced in U.S. dollars and settled in rubles for qualified investors only. The same day also marks the deadline for The Sandbox’s SAND compensation claims tied to the Aug. 22 Base and BNB Chain bridge attack, while Zilliqa is expected to trigger its second exchange migration hard fork. On Sept. 23, BitMEX is due to shut down at 12:00 Beijing time after halting new user registrations, with remaining positions to be forcibly closed after the deadline. Sept. 24 brings another set of changes: Phantom will stop supporting Sui, Binance will delist all USDP spot pairs, and Coinbase will suspend trading in IoTeX (IOTX) across several services. On Sept. 25, oracle project Switchboard plans to end operations and terminate remaining support, while Binance Futures is scheduled to list next-quarter 0326 delivery contracts. The week also includes a series of public appearances by Federal Reserve officials, including John Williams, Philip Jefferson, Austan Goolsbee and Thomas Barkin.

The week of Sept. 21-27 includes a cluster of scheduled crypto industry events, ranging from new derivatives listings and exchange closures to wallet support changes, oracle infrastructure shutdowns and public remarks from Federal Reserve officials.

Crypto Week Ahead: BitMEX shutdown date nears as Moscow Exchange prepares BTC, ETH and SOL perpetual futures 2

Moscow Exchange to launch crypto index perpetual futures on Sept. 22

According to a notice on the Moscow Exchange website, the exchange will formally launch five cryptocurrency index perpetual futures contracts on Sept. 22, 2026. The products will track Bitcoin (BTCUSDF), Ether (ETHUSDF), Solana (SOLUSDF), XRP (XRPUSDF) and TRON (TRXUSDF).

The contracts are cash-settled rather than physically delivered, denominated in U.S. dollars and settled in rubles, and will be available only to qualified investors. Since the first batch of crypto asset futures went live last summer, more than 72,000 qualified investors have traded the products, with cumulative turnover exceeding 600 billion rubles, according to the exchange.

Sept. 22 is also the final day for The Sandbox users to submit SAND compensation claims tied to the Aug. 22 cross-chain bridge attack on Base and BNB Chain. The claim window runs from Sept. 8 to Sept. 22. The Sandbox said wallets that legitimately held bridged SAND before the attack can receive 1:1 SAND compensation on Ethereum. Users do not need to fill out forms or provide documents, and only need to initiate a transaction from the wallet holding the tokens. Users who held SAND through centralized exchanges do not need to take action, as the team is coordinating with those exchanges. Users who miss the Sept. 22 deadline can contact the team before the end of October for individual handling. The team also warned users that it will not send direct messages or ask them to approve tokens, sign off-chain messages or transfer funds.

Zilliqa is also expected to carry out its second exchange migration hard fork on Sept. 22. The event is scheduled for 07:21 UTC at block height 36,383,378. Participating exchanges will migrate ZIL from legacy wallets to verified Zilliqa EVM addresses. Multiple exchanges are involved, while Bithumb is expected to complete its migration during the third hard fork. After the migration is completed, exchanges will gradually resume ZIL deposits and withdrawals on Zilliqa EVM, with exact timing subject to each platform’s own announcement.

BitMEX set for formal shutdown on Sept. 23

Crypto exchange BitMEX is scheduled to shut down at 12:00 Beijing time on Sept. 23, 2026, according to an official announcement. The platform has already stopped accepting new user registrations. BitMEX said its parent company, HDR Global Trading Limited, decided to close the exchange after a strategic review by the board.

The exchange will continue operating until the shutdown date, but it has restricted new position openings since Aug. 26 at 12:00 Beijing time, allowing users only to reduce positions. Any positions still open after the deadline will be forcibly closed. KYC-verified users who fail to withdraw assets before the shutdown will be charged an account management fee of either $50 per month or 1% of the account balance, whichever is higher. The fee may be increased.

Phantom to end Sui support as Binance and Coinbase adjust listings on Sept. 24

Phantom and Sui have decided to end Sui support within Phantom on Sept. 24, while leaving open the possibility of exploring other forms of cooperation in the future. Before Sept. 24, users can migrate their wallets to other applications that support Sui, or swap Sui into other assets supported by Phantom. Those swaps will carry no fees.

Binance, meanwhile, said it will stop trading and delist all PaxDollar (USDP) spot trading pairs at 03:00 UTC on Sept. 24, 2026. Services including Binance Earn, Dual Investment, Crypto Loans, Margin, Convert, Gift Card and Pay will also phase out support for the token.

Coinbase said it will suspend trading in IoTeX (IOTX) at around 02:00 Beijing time on Sept. 24, 2026, across Simple and Advanced Trade on Coinbase.com, Coinbase Exchange and Coinbase Prime. The relevant order books have already moved to limit-only mode, where limit orders can still be placed and canceled. Coinbase said it regularly monitors assets listed on the exchange to make sure they continue to meet listing standards.

Switchboard to cease operations on Sept. 25; Binance Futures to list next-quarter contracts

Multichain oracle project Switchboard said in a post on X that it will cease operations. Its core development contributor, Switchboard Technology Labs, will wind down remaining business activities. All Switchboard implementations have stopped receiving maintenance effective immediately, and all remaining support will end on Sept. 25. Protocols using its oracle services were told to migrate immediately to alternatives including Pyth and RedStone.

Switchboard said artificial intelligence has lowered the cost of building in-house oracle systems, the crypto bear market has reduced the number of new public chains and project budgets, and direct partnerships between protocols and data providers such as the Hyperliquid and S&P model suggest more protocols may source data directly, weakening the value proposition of third-party oracle networks.

Also on Sept. 25, Binance Futures is scheduled to list next-quarter 0326 delivery contracts at 16:00 in 2026. USDT-margined delivery contracts will include BTCUSDT and ETHUSDT, with leverage of up to 50x. Coin-margined delivery contracts will include BTCUSD CM, ETHUSD CM, BNBUSD CM, XRPUSD CM and SOLUSD CM, also with leverage of up to 50x, though some contracts will have a maximum of 20x.

Other item with timing still to be determined

Bloomberg reported that SoftBank Group is finalizing nearly $21 billion in potential new borrowing this week to expand its financing capacity for artificial intelligence. People familiar with the matter said SoftBank increased a margin loan backed by shares in chip subsidiary Arm Holdings by $5 billion to $25 billion, and added $450 million to an existing credit line, bringing that facility to $6.5 billion. The company also plans to raise another $10 billion to $20 billion through a separate jumbo bond sale next week.

As of the current schedule, no additional major items were listed for Sept. 21, Sept. 26 or Sept. 27.
