On June 6, on-chain analytics platform Lookonchain reported that Bitmine, a crypto hedge fund founded by Tom Lee, currently holds 5,416,901 ETH with an average purchase cost of around $3,500. At the prevailing market price of ETH, the position carries an unrealized loss of $10.35 billion.
At the same time, Strategy (formerly known as MicroStrategy), led by Michael Saylor, holds 843,706 BTC at an average cost of about $75,699. Based on the current BTC market price, the company’s paper loss on this holding amounts to $12.27 billion. Both data points highlight substantial on-paper losses for institutional investors amid the current crypto market downturn.
