BlackRock and Ethena Labs have deepened their partnership, with USDe becoming a recognized crypto asset on BlackRock's $25 trillion Aladdin investment and risk management platform. The firms also announced a $100 million liquidity facility for BlackRock's tokenized Treasury fund BUIDL via Securitize, allowing clients to convert BUIDL tokens into USDC, USDtb, and other stablecoins outside regular trading hours. BlackRock's head of digital assets said the arrangement delivers frictionless interoperability for tokenized Treasury funds. Ethena's founder described it as critical infrastructure for institutions to access on-chain products through familiar systems. The collaboration builds on their prior work with the USDtb stablecoin, and BUIDL currently holds approximately $3 billion in total locked value.

USDe Added to BlackRock's Aladdin Platform

According to The Block, BlackRock and Ethena Labs have announced an expanded partnership, with the algorithmic stablecoin USDe now recognized as a crypto asset on BlackRock's Aladdin platform, which manages $25 trillion in assets. Aladdin is BlackRock's flagship investment technology platform covering risk management, trading, and post-trade services. This integration marks a significant step in the acceptance of crypto assets within traditional financial infrastructure, enabling institutional clients to directly access and trade USDe through the Aladdin system.

BUIDL Liquidity Upgrade: $100M Facility and 24/7 Conversion

The firms also revealed a $100 million liquidity arrangement for BUIDL, BlackRock's tokenized U.S. Treasury fund, facilitated through the tokenization platform Securitize. The arrangement allows eligible BUIDL holders to convert their tokens into stablecoins such as USDC and USDtb outside standard trading hours, and vice versa. This mechanism greatly enhances the liquidity flexibility of tokenized Treasuries, letting institutional investors manage positions during market volatility or outside traditional hours. Robert Mitchnick, BlackRock's global head of digital assets, stated that the arrangement provides the essential frictionless interoperability needed for tokenized Treasury funds.

Deepening Collaboration and the Tokenization Trend

Ethena founder Guy Young commented that the next phase of digital asset adoption will be driven by infrastructure that allows traditional institutions to access on-chain products through familiar systems. The Aladdin integration exemplifies such infrastructure. Prior to this, BlackRock and Ethena had already collaborated on the USDtb stablecoin, which is primarily backed by BUIDL. The new liquidity facility further solidifies their synergy. Launched on Ethereum in 2024, BUIDL is one of the world's largest tokenized U.S. Treasury funds, with a total locked value of approximately $3 billion. These moves signal that traditional financial giants are accelerating their embrace of tokenized assets, building scalable pipelines for institutional-grade crypto adoption.
