B3, Brazil’s largest stock exchange, plans to roll out a tokenized securities platform in the first half of 2027, pushing back an earlier target of the second half of 2026. The exchange said tokenized securities on the platform will be interchangeable with traditional stocks and will share the same pricing and liquidity. Humberto Costa, B3’s director of products and OTC strategy, said the instruments will be issued based on existing assets rather than primarily onchain, while settlement will continue under the market’s current T+2 model. B3 is still evaluating whether Brazilian depositary receipts and exchange-traded funds will be included. The exchange also plans to issue its own stablecoin and seek authorization from Brazil’s central bank to operate and provide custody for digital assets. Around-the-clock trading and instant settlement would still require regulatory approval or a new framework in Brazil.

Platform structure and settlement model
Humberto Costa, B3’s director of products and OTC strategy, said the tokenized securities will be issued on the basis of existing assets and will not be issued primarily on blockchain infrastructure. Trades on the platform will still settle under the current two-business-day settlement cycle.
Scope under review and regulatory approvals still needed
B3 is still assessing whether Brazilian depositary receipts and exchange-traded funds will be included in the infrastructure.
The exchange also plans to launch its own stablecoin and apply to Brazil’s central bank for authorization to operate and provide custody services for digital assets. Twenty-four-hour trading and instant settlement still depend on approval from Brazilian regulators or the creation of a new regulatory framework.
