Bitcoin software company Breez said demand for its developer tools has climbed sharply since AI coding agents became mainstream, with partnership inquiries rising by about 14x. The company tied that jump directly to Anthropic’s Claude Code, which launched as a research preview in February 2025 and opened more broadly three months later. According to Breez, the profile of incoming developers has changed as well. Before 2025, most prospective partners fell into three groups: committed Bitcoin enthusiasts, crypto developers, and fintech firms that viewed Bitcoin as an asset class. After Claude Code’s release, Breez began hearing from developers with little to no Bitcoin background, including teams building fitness apps, messaging apps that want user-to-user transfers, eSIM services for travelers, and even a mushroom identification app. Breez said many of these developers are choosing Bitcoin for speed, arguing that traditional payment acceptance can take weeks or months because of bank account setup and cross-border transfer requirements, while its SDK can be running in minutes. The company also said a growing share of inquiries now comes from software rather than humans, with coding agents often making requests on behalf of the companies deploying them.

Bitcoin software company Breez said demand for its developer tools has surged since AI coding agents entered the mainstream, with partnership inquiries increasing by about 14x. Developers, along with the AI agents they deploy, are looking to add Bitcoin payments to their applications.

Breez links the increase to Claude Code

In a company blog post, Breez said it directly attributes the rise in demand to Anthropic’s Claude Code. The tool launched as a research preview in February 2025 and became generally available three months later.

Before 2025, Breez said its prospective partners mostly fell into three categories: committed Bitcoin enthusiasts, crypto developers, and fintech companies that treated Bitcoin as an asset class.

The mix of inbound developers has shifted

After Claude Code arrived, Breez said it started receiving inquiries from many developers with little or no Bitcoin experience. Those requests came from teams behind a range of products, including fitness apps, messaging apps that want to let users send money to each other, eSIM services aimed at travelers, and a mushroom identification app.

Breez said speed is a major reason these developers are choosing Bitcoin. Traditional payment acceptance often involves bank accounts and cross-border transfers and can take weeks or even months, while its SDK can be up and running in minutes.

More requests are coming from software agents

The company also said a growing number of inquiries are coming from software rather than humans. According to Breez, coding agents often submit requests on behalf of the companies that deploy them.

Breez said it believes agents prefer Bitcoin because it is permissionless. Agents do not need to open bank accounts, pass reviews, or sign paperwork before building applications and setting up payments for users around the world.

The company added that its latest SDK, built on the Bitcoin scaling protocol Spark, has handled the additional traffic smoothly.
