Broadcom closed nearly 6% lower on Friday, according to market data from BIT (Bit.com), as attention turned to the financing structure supporting the company’s AI infrastructure buildout. Bank of America analysts estimated that the financing platform Broadcom uses for AI chip customers could accumulate as much as $370 billion in senior debt by mid-2029. Of that total, roughly $150 billion could be issued in 2027 alone, based on a 20-gigawatt data center footprint. The debt sits on the financing platform rather than on Broadcom’s own balance sheet. Even so, Broadcom has already guaranteed lease payments for some customers, with the first transaction carrying guarantees of about $29 billion. The model began in June this year, when Apollo Global Management and Blackstone led a $35 billion funding package for Broadcom’s AIXPV platform. The first tranche will support Anthropic in building more than 1 gigawatt of computing capacity, while the platform aims to provide more than 20 gigawatts by 2028.

Broadcom shares closed nearly 6% lower on Friday, according to market data from BIT (Bit.com), as the market focused on the financing model behind the company’s AI infrastructure expansion.

Bank of America estimates large debt build at financing platform

Bank of America analysts estimated that the financing platform Broadcom set up for AI chip customers could accumulate as much as $370 billion in senior debt by mid-2029. About $150 billion of new issuance could come in 2027 alone. The estimate is based on a 20-gigawatt data center buildout.

The debt is carried by the financing platform, not directly by Broadcom. Still, Broadcom has provided guarantees for lease payments for some customers, and the first transaction involved about $29 billion in guarantees.

Platform launched in June

The financing structure began in June this year. Apollo Global Management and Blackstone led a $35 billion funding package for Broadcom’s AIXPV platform. The first funding will be used to support Anthropic in building more than 1 gigawatt of computing capacity, and the platform plans to provide more than 20 gigawatts of capacity by 2028.

As AI infrastructure spending expands, the scale of Broadcom’s future guarantees is becoming a key point of market attention.
