According to official information cited by ChainCatcher, U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Chair Michael S. Selig announced two senior personnel appointments covering data innovation, advisory work in the Chair’s Office, and leadership for the Chicago region.
Donald Battle has been appointed Chief Data Innovation Officer at the CFTC. In this role, he will serve in the agency’s data division and join its innovation working group. The announcement noted that Battle previously worked with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) cryptocurrency working group and the data science group within the SEC’s enforcement division. His experience includes blockchain forensics, data science, and anti-money laundering.
J Matthew Haws has been appointed Senior Counselor in the Chair’s Office and head of the Chicago region. The announcement stated that Haws has more than 13 years of legal and compliance experience in derivatives markets. Both appointments were announced by CFTC Chair Michael S. Selig.
