Coinbase has released its Solana validator operations report for the second quarter of 2026, saying its validator set beat network averages on yield, stability, and infrastructure distribution. The company said it currently stakes about 41.63 million SOL across 23 validators, equal to 9.72% of all SOL staked on the network. For the quarter, Coinbase reported an annual percentage yield of 6.52%, above the network average of 6.38%, a lead of 14 basis points. Its skip rate came in at 0.035%, versus a network average of 0.136%, or roughly one-quarter of the broader network level. Coinbase also said its validators are spread across seven countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, and Singapore. The company said it runs a multi-client setup using Harmonic, Jito, JitoBAM, and Firedancer, all reviewed by the Solana Foundation, and does not use aggressive MEV timing strategies that could affect user experience. Coinbase added that it has moved its full validator cluster to the DoubleZero network and reached about 99.9% session availability, while preparing for Solana’s expected Alpenglow consensus upgrade later in 2026.

Coinbase has released its Solana validator operations report for the second quarter of 2026, saying its Solana validators performed above network averages in yield, stability, and infrastructure distribution.

Staking size and quarterly metrics

The company said it currently stakes about 41.63 million SOL through 23 validators, representing 9.72% of the total SOL staked across the Solana network. Those validators are distributed across seven countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, and Singapore.

Coinbase listed three core operating metrics for the quarter:

  • Staked SOL: 41.63 million, equal to 9.72% of the network total.
  • Staking yield: APY of 6.52% in Q2 2026, above the network average of 6.38% by 14 basis points.
  • Skip rate: 0.035%, below the network average of 0.136%, or about one-quarter of the broader network level.

Validator setup and infrastructure design

Coinbase said it uses a multi-client validator architecture and is currently running four clients: Harmonic, Jito, JitoBAM, and Firedancer. According to the company, all of those setups have been reviewed by the Solana Foundation, and Coinbase does not use aggressive MEV timing strategies that could affect user experience.

On infrastructure, the company said its validators are deployed across two independent bare-metal service providers. Each validator also has an off-site backup configuration to reduce single-point-of-failure risk.

DoubleZero migration and Alpenglow preparation

Coinbase said it has migrated its entire validator cluster to the DoubleZero network, reaching about 99.9% session availability.

The company also said it is preparing for Solana’s Alpenglow consensus upgrade, which is expected to move forward later in 2026. That work includes running community test validators, building new consensus health monitoring tools, and completing validation for related vote account upgrades.
